Do You Know the Methods of Ore Dressing Plant
Ore dressing, also known as mineral processing or mineral dressing, is the process of separating commercially valuable minerals from their ores. Dressing plant ordinarily adopt three-stage crushing process (rough crushing-secondary crushing-fine crushing process). In rough crushing process 1.2m or 1.5m rotary crusher is mainly adopted; 2.1m or 2.2m standard cone crusher is used in secondary crushing process; 2.1m or 2.2m short-head cone crusher is used in fine crushing process. After rough crushing, the size of ores is less than 1m; through secondary and fine crushing process, ore particles of size smaller than 12mm is screened out and sent to the grinding groove.
Ore dressing methods:
1. Gravity concentration: Different ores have diverse precipitation speed in medium because of their different densities, so they are separated from each other.
2. Magnetic separation: This method makes use of the diversity of ores’ magnetism. In uneven magnetic field, magnetic minerals attract the pole in magnetic separator, while non-magnetic minerals repel.
3. Flotation: This method makes use of different hydrophilicities of minerals’ surface. Strongly hydrophobic minerals are floated to pulp surface with foams, while hydrophilic minerals stay in ore pulp. In this way different minerals can be separated.
The ore processing plant can be used to recover many kinds of metal and non-metals, such as copper, gold, zinc, lead, carbon black, and so on. generally speaking, a complete ore dressing production line is consists of vibrating feeder, belt conveyors, ball mill, spiral classifier, ball mill, flotation machine, rotary dryer, and so on, the quantity of the equipments is a little different according to the customers‘ specific requirements, for example, the size of the ore, customer’s expected grade for the final product, etc.Brief speaking, a complte ore dressing production line can be classified into three unit: crushing unit, grinding unit, and separating unit, below i’ll introduce these units one by one
